By Tooth And Claw Dragons

This is a wonderful roleplay website that spans hours of collective work, reaching up to their fifteen-year anniversary.  A total of eighty species crawls along those pages, and these characters are just but a few.

Jhin

Jhin

Western Dragon
Name:

Jhin Reyin

Gender:

Species:

Female

Western Dragon

Appearance:

Jhin hatched from her egg as a normal scaled Dragon, sporting a pearly white complexion from head to tail.
The splotches of black began as simple freckles across her muzzle, tail, and the bottom of her limbs. Through the years as she shed her scales, darker patches came to grow in their place, completely transforming her to the image you see above.

Her eyes are a vibrant gold, mixed with different shining shades to swirl together in what seems to be a galaxy that Midas himself brushed a finger upon.
Jhin was born with no pupil, but somehow manages to see with her deformity. Local doctors chalked it up with the fact she had a skin condition and thought that it had a relation to it. Piebald was a condition that affected melanin, perhaps there was a thin covering of melanin covering a pupil she had underneath, but there was no definitive answer. The one answer that came out to be the same from every person possessing any medical knowledge that they could afford, was that her eye condition must be related to that of her having a lack of nightvision, or hawk vision what so ever.

After more tests had been done, it had been concluded that her vision, smell, hearing, touch and taste were impaired, less than average compared to other dragonets her age.

This 'malfunction' of a gene left her with almost clear wing membranes, blue veins clearly visible within them.
Her horns have adapted a light shade of frosty blue as well, perhaps to represent the primary offense ability she has.

Jhin has a quite thin and long frame, supported with muscular legs. There may or may not have been a Wyrm in her family long ago, but no one is quite sure. She has fangs protruding from her mouth that secrete the frosty 'venom' to the victim she sinks them into.

The spikes that make a home on her tail have no significance other then simple protection of the tail, and a defense mechanism when rattled together. She has a 'mane' full of quill-like-filaments sprouting proudly from her skull and tapering to the base of her neck.

Abilities:

― Light Foot- Jhin is extraordinarily fast on her feet due to her cheetah-like build. Her legs are extremely muscular for performing ambushes, and launching herself in the air.

― Feline- Due to her lack of scaly plates of armour, Jhin can twist and turn easily, her scales more a puzzle piece of melding together then being layered on top of each other.

― Water Dancer- Due to her thin and lithe build, Jhin is adept at the concept of agility, bouncing from river-stone to river-stone with ease. Dodging attacks are smooth and effortless, provided with the ability of flight, she could make a formidable opponent.

― Falcon- Jhin has been known to fly at extraordinary high speeds, ripping through the air as if she was the knife to a knitter's thread.

― Frost Bite- The protruding fangs from her mouth are not a decorative ornamental dental piece, but quite a lethal weapon. When used, her jaw will un-hinge, providing a wider gape to take her victim in. The venom will quickly rush from the sacs located in the top gum, and the pouch at the 'adam's-apple' of the throat.

The two sacs found in the top gum proceeds to fill the top two fangs, making them adopt a frosty blue, while her smaller bottom fangs supplied by the sacs located in the throat remain an enamel-white, due to the smaller amount of venom distributed to it.

When injected into the victim's body, the toxins will go to immediately target the water in the cells, masquerading as helpful proteins until entering the cell walls. They will quickly freeze the water and cytoplasm in the cell, causing it to burst. It will continue to do this depending how long the bite is and how much venom is distributed.
The victim shows a freeze like death.

Venom potency depends on age. The older the dragon that possesses this ability, the more deadly the venom.
When bit by a young dragonet, the venom is quite diluted, the body focusing more on bone and scale growth then the venom.

Frost Wait (No venom)
Frost Bite (Venom)
Weaknesses:

― Cheetah's Weakness- Despite having the ability of running and flying at extremely fast speeds, she can only do it for so long. The fastest speed that has been recorded land-bound was 50 MPH (80 KPH) for nine seconds, and the fastest speed that has been recorded sky-bound was 60 MPH (90 KPH) for five and-a-half seconds.
She uses this ability to get away from attackers, and so far it has succeeded as she has been left unscathed.

― Heartbeat- Due to having the ability of such bursts of speed, the over-worked heart must be rested to prevent the hemorrhaging of the brain. With the speed she puts on her body, she also grants it strain. With her heart working so hard to feed oxygen-rich blood to the muscles, the heart must pump faster and faster to fill the demand, thus rising the temperature of the body. When CBT (Core Body Temperature) reaches 104°F (40°C) it risks the brain boiling in the host's skull, so the host must slow down immediately to prevent losing life.
This weakness leaves her extremely susceptible to attacks, as she cannot fight back due to the effect being death.

― Frost Wait- The ability of venom does not come free, it too knocks for taxes. Venom is not an constantly replenishing resource, and empty sacs are a risk. It takes around six hours for each of the four sacs that support each individual fang. In short, twenty four hours for it to be completely replenished.

― Blind- With the lack of a 'real' pupil, Jhin has a hard time adjusting to light. When outside, she often gradually lets her eyes adjust, squinting and letting her eyes open wider and wider until her pupils have successfully retracted.
When flashed by a sudden burst of light, her sensitive eyes often succumb to temporary retinal damage, causing her to lose the ability of sight.

―Dull- Jhin's primary senses, taste, touch, sight, smell, and hearing have been impaired compared to those her age of nineteen. It hasn't put a damper on her life as much would have expected, but it certainly hasn't aided in any way.

―Catfish- Jhin is known to be notoriously stubborn and headstrong, taking other's advice but always attempting to prove that her way is right unless said or done otherwise. She can become argumentative and hold a grudge.

―Paper Thin- Due to having little to no armour on her body, she is left defenseless other then her bite. Well-placed blows can be enough to take her down.

Profile:

Born to Jaul and Kaithei in the country of Vystrania, Jhin was the youngest and last of the family. Her brother, Meirhen, was not born of the genetic differences she held, so had none of the ill effects she bore alone.

The early days were quite fun-filled, bursting with laughter and butterflies gifted from the sun shine.
Since she was a hatchling, all she wanted to do was march with the army, to protect her Queen and her country from those who dared touch it.

The days passed of Jhin exclaiming to her mother that she wanted to be part of the Guard, whisking around her favourite stick and laying haste to those in her path. It was mostly Meirhen, or the doorpost, but it didn't matter. It was always a raging Bloodhound growling for battle.
Soon she was enthralled in school, grabbing any book she could get her claws on and soaking up the pages. She learned all she could about the Knighthood, how old one must be to get in, what ranks there are and what they mean, what division she would rather find herself in, everything was read over again and again until she felt she was an expert in the subject.

Bullying wasn't as prominent as it was in other schools, but it was a disease that infected everyplace, and this was no different.
Jhin never held the front of it, but she was shot a few times. It was nothing major, not like what some of the kids did, but simple name calling, and the one she looks back on and laughs today, is 'Cow'. The students would often call her this because of her black-and-white colouring so much so that she wore a cowbell for a week just to get under that person's skin.

Her life has simply proceeded from there, no special callings, no talents that were so unimaginably great, just Jhin jumping from job to job to keep herself afloat in the sea of people that always seemed to rise.

She still found herself in Vystrania, though seemingly steering away from the place the Queen resided in. Perhaps she was going on her own journey, she didn't know, but where ever the Gods let her walk she would follow.
